Lloyds Bank Advert

Behind the Scenes: Beauty by Bev on Set for a Lloyds Bank Advert

Working as a makeup artist means stepping into all kinds of exciting worlds—from music videos to weddings, fashion shoots to corporate campaigns. Recently, I had the opportunity to bring my brushes and beauty kit to a very different kind of set: a national advert for Lloyds Bank.

Yes, the Lloyds Bank. The one with the black horse.

Polished, Professional, and Natural Beauty

The brief for this campaign was all about authenticity. The aim was to create a relatable, trustworthy look for a diverse group of cast members—people representing real customers from all walks of life. My job was to enhance their natural features while keeping everything looking soft, fresh, and camera-friendly.

In commercials like these, it’s all about invisible makeup. You want the person to look well-rested, glowing, and confident—but not overly ‘done.’ Skin prep was key: I spent time using hydrating products and lightweight foundation to give each face a healthy, natural radiance. A touch of cream blush, groomed brows, and a swipe of lip balm or nude gloss were all it took to bring out that effortless polish.

Working with the Brand Vision

What I love about working on commercial shoots is how collaborative they are. I worked closely with the director, producer, and wardrobe stylist to make sure the overall look matched the brand’s message: reassuring, down-to-earth, and dependable. For Lloyds, that meant clean beauty looks that felt familiar and trustworthy to the everyday viewer.

On-Set Vibes

Filming days are always long, and this one was no exception—but the energy was calm, focused, and professional. Between takes, I was on standby for quick touch-ups, powdering away shine and ensuring continuity across scenes. It’s those little details—like making sure a collar isn’t tucked in or a hair hasn’t moved out of place—that keep everything looking seamless on screen.

Why Commercial Work Matters

While this kind of makeup might not scream “glamour” in the traditional sense, it’s some of the most satisfying work I do. Helping someone feel confident in front of the camera—especially if they’re not used to being there—is such a joy. And seeing the finished ad pop up on TV or YouTube, knowing I was part of that polished final look, is a proud moment every time.

At Beauty by Bev, it’s not just about bold looks—it’s about bringing out the best version of you, no matter the setting.

Until next time,
Bev
